Chris Crain Hyundai

Blue Hyundai SUV

There’s not a whole lot that separates the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe and Tucson at first glance. But by offering a selection of SUVs within various size ranges, Hyundai lets you find exactly what you’re looking for in a family vehicle. What fits you and your family best is a much easier problem to solve when you have a number of quality vehicles to choose from.

Powertrain

Right off the bat, you might miss the powertrain differences between the two, because they both list 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder engines and an 8 speed shiftable automatic transmission. But that’s where the similarities end. The Santa Fe has been tuned up a bit to produce 4 more horsepower and 3 more foot pounds of torque. This may not sound like much but this attention to detail is what allows the larger Santa Fe to maintain similar top speeds and acceleration figures to the smaller and slightly lighter Tucson.

The big difference here is that the Santa Fe comes with an 18.8 gallon gas tank, whereas the Tucson has a 14.3 gallon tank. With similar MPG figures, this means the Santa Fe can go a whole hundred miles further between fill ups, which makes it a great companion for your longer road trips.

Size

The primary difference between the two, however, is size. The Santa Fe is longer and wider, resulting in more shoulder and leg room across the board. While it’s only a matter of a few inches here and there, these inches add up to a substantially roomier interior which may be of interest to larger families for whom an extra inch can make for more comfortable car seat installation, less kicks to the back of the parents seats and more room for active kids to stretch out.

Interestingly, the Tucson provides slightly more driver and passenger headroom, perhaps making it more attractive for one person or it could simply be the difference maker for taller drivers.

While the Santa Fe and the Tucson are remarkably similar and are, of course, built to the same high quality standard Hyundai is known for, they do offer differences that matter to today’s discerning consumer. So come in today and take them for a test drive. These differences between the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe and Tucson look small on paper but we’re eager to show how each one could make a perfect fit for your life!

If you’re in between choices trying to find the perfect SUV for you and your family, it just got a little more complicated. The Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai Santa Fe are two of our favorite SUVS here at Chris Crain Hyundai and we can tell you why.

Hyundai Tucson

Soon as you lock eyes on this beauty you’ll automatically think “my future.” Its futuristic and technical appearance will make you feel like one of the Jetsons! We love this design!

The Hyundai Tucson also comes with the option of being a hybrid. It has 2.5L 4-cylinder reaching 187 horsepower with an 8-speed automatic transmission. If the hybrid model, the Hyundai Tucson will have a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine. You also have the option of either all wheel drive or front wheel drive.

The fuel efficiency on this SUV is wonderful. 26 CITY/33 HWY MPG.

As far as comfort goes, the Hyundai Tucson is larger than their previous models in the years. Making more room for the back passengers as well as the front two due to its luxurious cabin.

Features are definitely our favorite part of a car. The Hyundai Tucson’s infotainment center has a standard 8.8 inch touchscreen display equipped for Apple CarPlay and Android auto. Did I mention it also has Wi-Fi? It’s hard to go anywhere without the internet and so Hyundai built that in for us.

Hyundai Santa Fe

The Hyundai Santa Fe is slightly bigger than the Hyundai Tucson. The Santa Fe makes for more cargo room and towing features. It can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Alongside this vehicle is a different engine than the Tucson. The Santa Fe has 2.5L GDI MPI DOHC 16-valve I4-ince engine that includes an 8-speed automatic transmission. This is a front wheel drive with the fuel tank capacity of 18.8 gallons fuel tank.

The fuel efficiency is slightly different here. The Santa Fe’s fuel efficiency is 25 CITY/28 HWY MPG.

The Hyundai Santa Fe has a bit more space in their cabin. The Tucson has 146.9 cubic ft. and 80.3 inches of cargo space while the Santa Fe has 147.9 cubic ft. and 72.1 cubic ft of cargo area.

The Santa Fe has a bit more features than the Tucson. It has a navigation system and power seats.

Both vehicles seat five passengers including the driver and both vehicles are great options for your next vehicle. The choice is really if you need that little more room for your cargo space.

What does Fuel Efficiency mean?

Well it basically means how well and how far a vehicle can travel on fuel. A vehicle being fuel efficient helps prevent wasting a large amount of gas. The main key is to make sure the vehicle that you’re interested in is getting at least 23 MPG combined city and highway.

Hyundai Elantra

If we’re talking fuel efficiency, the Hyundai Elantra is our most fuel efficient vehicle aside from the IONIQ. The 2022 Hyundai Elantra gets 30 CITY/40 HWY MPG. It features a regular unleaded I-4 2.0L MPI DOHC I4 D-CVVT engine. Its tank capacity is 14 gallons.

Hyundai Sonata

The next vehicle that has great fuel efficiency is the Hyundai Sonata. It gets 28 CITY/38 CITY MPG. It has a 2.5L GDI MPI DOHC 16-Valve I4 -inc: Idle Stop & Go. It takes up to 14.8 gallons of fuel in its tank. A little more than the Hyundai Elantra, but it still can go nearly the same distance as. Great vehicle and a great choice!

Hyundai Kona

Some might say “well I kind of need a SUV,” no worries! We’ve got you covered. The Hyundai Kona is a great contender when it comes to gas mileage. It reaches 30 CITY/35 HWY MPG. The subcompact SUV has a 13.2 gallon fuel tank. The Hyundai Kona also has a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine and is front wheel drive.

Hyundai Tucson

Another great SUV, and also a little bit bigger, is the Hyundai Tucson. The Hyundai Tucson gets 23 CITY/28 HWY MPG. It is an all wheel drive equipped with a 2.5L GDI MPI DOHC CVVT 4-cylinder and 8-speed automatic w shiftronic transmission. Not only does it have good fuel efficiency, it can also give you a little boost as you drive. The fuel tank capacity for a Hyundai Tucson is 14.3 gallons.

Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid Limited FWD 4D

No one ever speaks about hybrid vehicles, but hybrid vehicles are also very fuel efficient and cost efficient. The IONIQ Hybrid is a great choice if you’re looking to help you save money in the long run. This vehicle reaches 55 CITY/54 HWY MPG. It has 1.6L I4 DGI Hybrid DOHC 16V LEV3-SULEV30 engine. As glamorous as it looks on the outside, it’s even more luxurious on the inside. The IONIQ 6 will have a 12.0-inch infotainment screen that will include BlueLink connectivity for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. With a spacious cabin, there’s an ambient light to give a brighter and attractive look. It will be a five-seater vehicle like all sedans with modern cargo space for your belongings.

Electric Life

This is one of the fully electric sedans to happen. Its range is expected to extend to 280 miles on WLTP standard. The IONIQ 6 will have a standard 53-kWh battery with a 77.4 kWh available as well. The 800 voltage charge will have the ability to charge from 10 to 80 percent in a matter of 18-20 minutes.

Tire rotation and tire alignment go hand in hand. A tire alignment makes sure that all four tires are evenly angled with each other and the road. A tire rotation means regularly switching the position of each tire on the vehicle. Here at Crain Hyundai of Conway, we provide both services and ensure each and every one of our vehicles are good to go with the alignment and tire rotation. Here’s why you need to get a tire rotation at Crain Hyundai of Conway

Longevity

If you want your tires to last you for quite some time, rotating them is a must. The reason why people are constantly buying new tires is because they fail to get them rotated. You should get your tires rotated every 5,000 miles. The best way to do this is by requesting your tires be rotated when you get an oil change. As they say ‘killing two birds with one stone’.

Save Money

Tires are not exactly budget friendly. You’ll at least always spend $50-$150 minimum. Now for high-end tires, the mega performance speciality tires? Those can range anywhere from $300-$1000 each. Not to mention the cost of labor and taxes as well.

Safer Drive

Your engine is a big part as to why your car moves, but the tires are the backbone. Without great tires, anything is bound to happen. Getting your tires rotated makes a safer drive throughout your trip/going to your destination. You’ll keep the tread on your tires healthy by rotating your tires. If you come to an abrupt stop and your tires are worn down because you haven’t rotated your tires, it’s possible you might not be able to control your car. Especially when it’s rain, snow, or icy roads, that’s when it becomes even more dangerous.

Keep Your Tread

Not rotating your tires could also lead to wearing them thin, making them more prone for blowouts. It’ll only take a nail or piece of glass punctured in a weak spot on the tire to cause a blowout. Tires are strong and tough until they are worn down from repeated hits.

Smooth Riding

When you get your tires rotated in a regular time frame, it makes driving anywhere a lot more peaceful. You’ll definitely feel the difference in driving with tires that are in great condition compared to tires that are worn out with no tread. The not equal tires will give you a bumpier ride and experience sitting in that driver seat. A relaxed and untroubled ride makes for reliable and appreciable tires.

Here at Crain Hyundai of Conway, we handle oil changes, tire rotations, alignments and so much more service in a day’s work. We are dedicated to making it easier for you to have a safer driving experience. Stop by to get a service done, or contact us to schedule an appointment. When it comes to regular vehicle maintenance, one of the most important services you can have done on your vehicle is regular oil changes. Oil is an essential fluid for any vehicle. It lubricates the moving parts of your engine to minimize friction and heat while improving function. Driving with too low of an oil level can saddle you with serious problems. At Chris Crain Hyundai, we know the dangers of driving with low oil levels- which is why we’ve put together this post.

Dangers of Low Oil Levels

Heat can be very harmful to engines, which is why engines are built with several systems that allow them to stay cool. When an engine’s oil level is low, the oil cannot properly absorb the heat that is in the engine. Therefore, the engine will be at risk of overheating. Overheating can damage an engine tremendously, ultimately leading to the engine needing to be replaced.

Signs You Need an Oil Change

You don’t have to wait for problems with the engine to tell you that you need oil. Instead, pay attention to the following signs and you can provide solutions that are inexpensive and relatively easy to implement.

  • The engine knocks. If your camshafts and valvetrain don’t have enough lubrication, your crankshaft bearings can fail and produce a knocking sound. The noise can also be heard due to an imbalanced crankshaft or if the flex plate of the flywheel has cracks.
  • The Oil Pressure Warning Light comes on. This is the most common indication that your oil level is low. Fortunately, the simple solution is to add more oil. If the light remains on even after you do that, you may have a leak, which will require either the repair or replacement of a hose or two.
  • You smell a burning odor. Without enough oil, engine components will start to rub against each other and produce excess heat. Any oil that is left will start to burn up, producing the odor that you smell. The aroma is strong enough for you to notice even inside the passenger cabin.
  • Smoke appears under the hood. The excess friction and heat produced by the lack of oil can overheat your engine and show smoke coming from under the hood.

Clunking

Have you noticed that your car is making some new sounds that you have never heard before? This is not a good sign. If you hear buzzing, humming, or clunking you need to have the transmission looked at. If you don’t, you risk causing further damage.

Burning Smell

No matter what you are doing- a burning smell is never good! And, when that smell is coming from your car- it can never be a good sign. That smell could mean many different things, but the most common is your transmission fluid overheating. If you notice a burning smell, bring your vehicle to Chris Crain Hyundai and we’ll do a full inspection!

Not Responding Quickly

Your car’s transmission should be responsive and immediately switch gears when you need it to. If you notice that your transmission isn’t responding quickly then it’s time for a once over. The easiest way to see if this is happening is to put your car in park. Then shift into drive. Does the car immediately take off when you take your foot off the brake? If not, and you have some lag time, then you may have a problem.

Leaky Fluids

After your car has been parked for a period of time, do you notice a puddle or stream of liquid? If you’ve been running your AC, that liquid might not be a big deal. However, if you suspect that it is something more serious then it’s time to investigate. The transmission system is a closed system. Meaning that when it is running properly, there is no leaking. Start by placing a piece of cardboard under your car to collect the liquid. Then you can look at the cardboard to determine what and where the liquid is coming from. A clear liquid that looks like water will be from your AC system. But if the liquid is red or brown, there is cause for concern.

Noisy in Neutral

Put your car in neutral and let it run. Do you hear any bumping or other noises? Your vehicle should be quiet when running the engine in neutral. If you do hear “extra” noises that didn’t used to be there, try changing out the transmission fluid. This can fix the most common issues. Bring your car in for a check-up if you are concerned at all.

Summertime is here which means many people across the country will be hitting the road on their way to their summer vacation destination. Summertime in Arkansas can be brutal with temperatures topping the high 90s or even low 100s, and that can have an impact on your vehicle. At Chris Crain Hyundai in Conway, we want to take the stress out of your summer road trip. That’s why we’ve put together this list of summertime vehicle maintenance tips and why maintaining your vehicle is so important.

SCHEDULE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE IN CENTRAL ARKANSAS

What Maintenance Should Be Done?

Many experts suggest that preventative vehicle maintenance should occur at least twice a year. Doing so has benefits for the longevity of your vehicle and can also effectively reduce the possibility of being involved in a preventable accident.

  • Inspect your lights. Check all your vehicle’s lights and bulbs. If a bulb is burned out, always replace it and its “partner” together as bulbs dim over time. Check lighting covers for cracks and fogging. Hazy or yellowed headlight covers can be restored. Remember to clean out any bugs or debris that may have built up in the lenses.
  • Schedule an oil change and tire rotation. Regular oil changes are the most important maintenance tasks to keep your car running well. Tire rotations will make them last longer, which means you’ll spend less on tires over the life of your vehicle. Most cars need an oil change every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, or every three months if you drive less often.
  • Check your tire pressure. According to AAA, driving on under-inflated tires can cause them to overheat, increasing the likelihood of a blowout. High summertime road temperatures can add to this possibility. Many newer cars have a tire pressure monitoring system. Don’t ignore low pressure warnings, and before you leave for your trip- always make sure you have a spare tire ready to go in the event of a blowout.

How can you maintain the safety of your pets and still enjoy your travel at the same time? Believe it or not, it is not as difficult as it sounds. You need to plan ahead in order to get it done, but your pets will greatly appreciate your efforts and their ability to ride along with you on your next journey. At Chris Crain Hyundai, we understand how important you and your pet’s safety is, which is why we’ve put together this list of how to safely travel with your pets to your summer destination!

Prep Your Pet For A Long Trip

Get your pet geared up by taking them on a series of short drives first, gradually lengthening their time spent in the car. If you’re traveling across state lines, bring along your pet’s rabies vaccination record. While this generally isn’t a problem, some states require this proof at certain interstate crossings. It’s better to be safe than sorry!

Be Sure Your Pets Are Secure

Make sure to strap the pets into a safety pet harness in the back seat to keep them in the most secure position if there is an accident. Also, always make sure to put the child lock on the windows throughout the vehicle. That lock will keep the pet from jumping out of one of the windows if they accidentally roll down the window. You can also put your pet in a secure crate, but be sure there is enough room for them to stand, sit, lie down and turn around.

Never Leave Your Animal Alone In A Parked Vehicle

On a hot day, a parked vehicle can become a furnace in no time, and heatstroke can develop. Never leave your pet unattended in the vehicle, even if you’re just running into the store for a quick second. Make sure someone is always with your pet when they are in the car.

Bring A Pet Travel Bag

Make sure you pack a separate bag just for your pet. Include food, a bowl, leash, a waste scoop, plastic bags, grooming supplies, medication and first-aid, and any travel documents. If your pet has anxiety, be sure to bring a couple of their favorite toys or bedding. Pack plenty of water, and avoid feeding your pet in a moving vehicle. Your pet’s travel-feeding schedule should start with a light meal three to four hours prior to departure, and always opt for bottled water.
