IIHS- Hyundai Motor Group has the most Titles

Hyundai has always been known for its smart designs and great value—but in 2025, it proved once again that safety comes first. In this year’s IIHS Safety Awards, Hyundai Motor Group took home 12 awards, including multiple TOP SAFETY PICK+ wins for popular models like the IONIQ 5, Tucson, and KONA.

At Chris Crain Hyundai, we’re proud to offer vehicles that are not only stylish and fun to drive but also some of the safest on the road.

What Are the IIHS Safety Awards?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gives out awards each year to vehicles that perform best in crash tests and safety evaluations. In 2025, they made the tests even tougher, focusing more on rear seat protection, crash prevention, and driver assistance features.

Only 48 vehicles earned awards this year—down from 71 last year—so it’s even more impressive that Hyundai brands won 25% of them.

These awards prove Hyundai is serious about safety and keeps improving year after year.

What’s New in the 2025 IIHS Tests?

This year’s tests were harder than ever. To earn a TOP SAFETY PICK+, vehicles had to:

  • Get a “Good” rating in a new front crash test that includes a second dummy in the back seat
  • Perform well in nighttime crash prevention tests
  • Show strong protection for rear-seat passengers

Hyundai passed with flying colors—thanks to their advanced seat belt designs, strong frame structures, and smart driver assist features.

Hyundai’s Safety Features That Make a Difference

Hyundai vehicles are packed with features that help keep you and your family safe, including:

Crash Prevention Technology

  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Pedestrian Detection Systems
  • Rear Automatic Braking

Driver Assistance Tools

  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Adaptive Cruise Control

Seat Belt Tech That Protects

Hyundai has worked hard to make back seats safer too. Features like seat belt pre-tensioners and load limiters help reduce injuries in crashes—especially for kids and passengers in the second row.

Why Size and Weight Matter

It’s a fact—larger, heavier vehicles tend to offer better protection in serious crashes. Hyundai’s lineup includes safe options in many size categories, so you can find the right balance between efficiency and protection for your needs.

Whether you’re driving a compact KONA or a larger Santa Fe, Hyundai is working hard to keep everyone inside safe.

Setting the Standard in Automotive Safety

Winning 12 out of 48 total IIHS awards isn’t just impressive—it shows that Hyundai is leading the way when it comes to protecting drivers, passengers, and even pedestrians.

These wins also reflect Hyundai’s dedication to continuous safety improvements, especially as IIHS raises the bar. With every new model, Hyundai shows that you can have style, performance, and cutting-edge safety all in one.
